Rio Grande Fishing Report
 Jan 4-11, 2020 -Week 2

Great week , the Rio Grande still with great level of water,  on Friday the river went up and got dirty, that will be good to keep a good level the next weeks.
71 fish were landed,  17 fish over 15 pounds, 2 over 20,  Average weight 9,9 pounds.
Floating lines and slow sinking were the best, green machine was the best fly in the week.
We got many offers on top, we green machine, striping short and slow to keep the fly in the surface.

Water Conditions
Water color and visibility: Very clear water until Thursday.
Water temperature: 8 c to 12 c.
Water level: great level, good current almost in all the pools, higher than last season, and we had some rain so river will keep level.

Weather Conditions
Wind speed ranges through the week:the wind blows northwest and sometimes from the east, it wasn’t strong all week.
Air temperature ranges through the week: 7 c to 16 c , we had some rains, got colder the afternoons.
Weather observations (sun, rain, fog, etc.):3 days with rains.

Fishing Conditions
Flies that are working the best:  we were using  tubes most of the time, and green machine .  Big flies for the last hour: big tube flies.
Green machine had  80 percent of the cach of the week.

Fly lines (tips, heads, lengths, densities, etc) that are producing the best: Skagit heads with different lengths of T-17,14, 11.
Floating lines were the best.

Length and strength of tippet and leaders: 7 to 14 feet. 12 to 20 pounds.
So striping and drifting green machine or some tubes like sunray shadows were the best last week.  Most of the fish were in the lower and middle  part of the river, upper part was not so good. All fish were fresh.
